Significant increase in the number of tourists from Europe and Asia to Ukraine

The new figures for 2018 released in February 2019 by the Ukrainian Border Service showed an increase in visitor numbers to the country from Europe and Asia.

The largest growth in the number of European tourists came among Spanish visitors, with the number of Spaniards visiting Ukraine in 2018 increasing 68% over the previous year.

Then came Britain (47%), Lithuania (23%), Italy (15%), Germany (13%) and France (9%).

Meanwhile, growth levels were more striking among visitors from Asian countries, as the number of Indian tourists coming to Ukraine in 2018 increased by 57% year on year, followed by China (39%), Japan (38%) and Israel (22%) .

Ukrainian officials see the development of the country's tourism industry as a strategic economic priority in the next five years, especially with Ukraine's rapid improvement of air communications which forms the basis for long-term growth.
