Ukrainians flock from different regions to a salt lake in the Kherson region in the south of the country, as it has become a place of recreation thanks to the health benefits it is supposed to achieve.
From western Ukraine, Oleksandr Nyststein came to Lake Limorsky to recover after surgery. Covered with mud taken from the shore of the lake, he said he felt better thanks to the healthy properties of this silt.
Local media reported that the spa resorts in Austria and Germany use quantities of silt and salt collected from the lake to treat their visitors.
In addition to the health benefits, the lake is known for its unconventional pink color due to the aquatic plants that grow within its salt environment. Tourists who swim in the lake say that they can not dive into it, no matter what attempts are made, as its salty water makes them float on its surface, and it attracts 10 thousand tourists annually.
That lake remains a mystery, but some stories are shared by locals. Some say that the lake was formed after a war plane crashed during the 1960s and caused a 40-meter-wide crater that was later filled with water from Lake Sivas, which is located close to it. Others say that the lake is the remains of the Limorisci Sea that existed hundreds of years ago.
