Foreign ministers of the countries whose citizens were among the passengers of the stricken Ukrainian plane held a press conference Thursday, calling on Tehran to pay compensation to the families of the plane's victims.
The foreign ministers of Britain, Canada, Sweden, Afghanistan and Ukraine said that Iran should allow "a comprehensive, transparent and independent international investigation" and called for accountability and prosecution of those responsible for the downing of the plane.
For his part, Canadian Foreign Minister Francois Philippe Champagne stressed that "Iran must cooperate because the eyes of the international community are watching it," while the countries concerned welcomed the commitment that Iran has shown on this issue until today.
Tehran announced a few days ago that it had shot down a Ukrainian civilian plane "unintentionally" and as a result of a "human error" after flying near a sensitive military area.
All of the 176 people on board were killed in the disaster.
